Horizon 2020 is the biggest EU Research and Innovation programme ever with nearly €80 billion of funding available over 7 years (2014 to 2020) – in addition to the private investment that this money will attract. It promises more breakthroughs, discoveries and world-firsts by taking great ideas from the lab to the market.
A Division of the Scottish Government Agriculture, Food and Rural Communities Directorate, our primary role is to provide scientific services and advice in support of Scotland’s agriculture and wider environment. Although much of our work is in support of arable agriculture we also provide services in food safety, wildlife management and crime whilst providing specialist advice to Scottish Ministers.

Forest Research is GB's principal organisation for forestry and tree related research and is internationally renowned for the provision of evidence and scientific services in support of sustainable forestry. The European Innovation Partnership for Agricultural productivity and Sustainability (EIP-AGRI) has been launched in 2012 to contribute to the European Union's strategy 'Europe 2020' for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. This strategy sets the strengthening of research and innovation as one of its five main objectives and supports a new interactive approach to innovation: European Innovation Partnerships.
